About Us

Kasuti is an initiative to revive heritage weaves and crafts of India to establish a link between sustainable heritage handloom crafts and contemporary fashion.

Artisanal crafts of India are intricately connected with the ecosystem that existed in the village society where communities specialised in particular professions and crafts and were nodal points of the circulation of production and consumption. Industrialisation, rapid urbanisation, and modernisation gradually distorted this ecosystem. For instance, pastoral communities who used to wear Ajrakh resorted to machine-made digital-printed fabrics that were cheaper in comparison to the original hand-blocked Ajrakh; reduced resources among pastoralists also caused this switch.

Kasuti as a brand offers contemporary heritage designs at reasonable prices. Our mission is to empower artisans, especially women from underprivileged backgrounds.  Our current collection constitutes ladies' wear, men's wear, home décor products, pottery, and accessories. Kasuti products use hand painting, hand-block printing, mirror work, patchwork, and embroidery to create a fusion of heritage designs with modern concepts.

Kasuti strives to bring the heritage crafts of India to customers all around the world and re-establish a link between handloom production and urban consumption to sustain and survive centuries-old weaves, patterns, techniques, and aesthetics.
